Doula Support

Delicate Minimalist Mother Earth

As women undergoing the most transformative experiences of our lives, we were never meant to go it alone, we were meant to be supported by sisterhood. But in our modern world, where so many of us are removed from birthwork as part of our lives, the doula steps into an anicent and honored tradition of walking with you through the portal that is pregnancy and birth.

My work as a doula is informed by my reverence for the cycles of life, death and rebirth, the rites of womanhood, and a lifelong appreticeship to nature. I deeply believe it is every woman’s right to choose the way she wants to birth, AND I believe it is every woman’s right to be supported in experiencing an autonomous physiological birth if she so desires.

With that in mind, I became a Certified Birth Doula through DTC in Medford, OR in June of 2022 and have continued to build my education and experience ever since. I have attended a range of different kinds of births including hospital, birth center, home births, and cesareans. As a doula, my role is to support you physically and emotionally, provide education and community resources, facilitate communicaiton with your providers and advocate for your wishes.

Photography

  • Birth
  • Maternity
  • Breastfeeding
  • Families
  • Infant loss

Photography first captured my heart as a unique storytelling medium over 10 years ago. I’ve been working with my lens and refining the perspective that I wish to share with it ever since. So when I began witnessing birth, I knew that I had to offer this service to the families I work with too.

I work with natural light outdoors or in the comfort of your home. This helps us capture all the magical vibes for maternity photos, and postpartum newborn sessions don’t even require that you leave your bed or rocking chair!

I also offer family photography, maternity photography, nursing photos, branding photography, and infant loss photography.

Placenta Encapsulation and Art

Placenta is a power-packed little organ created specifically to nurture life. During pregancy she provides everything needed to nourish and grow your baby, and after pregnancy she is a potent and powerful medicine packed with minerals and hormones to ease the postpartum transiton. Consuming your placenta postpartum is a time honored tradition across many cultures and time periods, as well as a primal instinct. All other mammals consume their placentas immediatly post birth!

  • Thyroid stimulating hormone: boosts energy and helps recovery from stressfull events
  • Cortisone: combats stress and unlocks energy stores
  • Interferon: stimulates the immune system to protect against infections
  • Prostaglandin: anti-inflammatory
  • Hemoglobin: replenishes iron deficiency and anemia, a common postpartum condition
  • Urokinase inhibiting factor & factor XIII: stops bleeding and enhances wound healing
  • Gammaglobulin: immune booster that helps protect against postpartum infections

My story

I suppose I was born into birth work in a way, when my own mother chose a home birth for me, hours from any city or hospital. Physiological birth was normalized for me growing up, as my aunt was a midwife and so when I became a mother at 21 it felt natural for me to choose midwifery for my own care. I was in pre-nursing school at the time and had already worked in healthcare for several years, as a CNA for hospice and Alzhiemers patients, but somehow had never yet considered birthwork for myself.

After being a stay at home mom for several years, I felt the call the return to healthcare, but working within the allopathic medical model, while sacrificing my own health and family life, no longer appealed to me. I had also become aware of obstetric violence and the birth trauma so many young and first time moms like myself, have experienced, and I became passionate about being a part of change.

Credentials

• Traditional Healthcare Worker certified in the state of OR

• CPR, BLS, and NRP certified

• Certified Birth Doula, DTC, Doulas & Co.

So I began researching, and found a comprehensive doula training near me. At DTC I learned from Martha Rivera, Katie Minich, and Jess Dagget, doulas and teachers with invaluable wisdom and experience to share. And while my experience there was an important catalyst for me, I feel my real training has been in apprienticship to birth itself: in sitting with women through all the variations of the birth process.

I began attending births with midwife Eliza Spears at Klamath Birth Center in the spring of 2023 and never looked back. Shortly thereafter, I came on to the KBC team as an offical student midwife and attend births in that capacity regualarly. However, I also still take on doula clients as well, and some who plan hosptial births, on a case by case basis.

My birth philosphy is deeply pro-motherbaby dyad, pro body autonomy, and pro-woman. I beleive in and provide indivualized and holistic care, and if that’s something you’re looking for, or want to learn more about we may be aligned to working together!
